Delivery & Storage for Sash Windows

Our sash window delivery service is available across our main window delivery areas in the UK. Each order is securely packaged at the factory to prevent damage in transit. We provide clear instructions for kerbside delivery windows, along with guidance on sash window storage so your warranty remains valid. If you’re storing timber windows before installation, follow our Operations & Maintenance Manual for the correct method.

How your sash windows are packaged

Every sash window delivery is carefully checked before dispatch. Smaller units are shipped complete, while larger or heavier items may arrive with sashes supplied loose for fitting on site. Surface-mounted hardware ships separately to prevent transit scuffs.

Every order is visually checked before dispatch. On arrival, please inspect all components and packaging for completeness and transport damage, and note any issues on the delivery note. Report damage or shortages to 01279 456 670 or hello@sashwindowshop.com within 24 hours.

Our delivery standard:

Kerbside delivery to a safe hardstanding nearest the property. The driver cannot carry items through the site or upstairs.

Count units, check against paperwork and record issues on the delivery note. Contact us the same day with photos if anything is wrong.

Any transport damage or shortages must be reported within 24 hours of delivery or collection.

Do not fit a product you believe is defective – contact us first. Warranty requires following the supplied instructions.

Safe handling:

  • Lift by the main frame, never by glazing bars, and keep units vertical.

  • Minimise time on site before fitting; move items directly to the prepared storage area.

Prepare for delivery

Delivery is kerbside to a safe hard road surface nearest your address. This means your sash windows will be treated as kerbside delivery windows, and you should arrange labour or equipment to move them safely on site.

Your responsibilities:

We deliver to safe flat kerb side

Do not book installers for the same day—allow time for inspection and safe storage first. (Install guidance is separate.)

How to store sash windows correctly:

To protect your warranty, follow our sash window storage guidance: always store vertically, off the ground, with airflow. Avoid damp rooms or wrapping that traps condensation. Correctly storing timber windows keeps them in the same condition as when they left the factory.

Do:

  • Store vertically, off the ground, with spacers for airflow; keep under cover in a dry, ventilated space.

  • Maintain timber moisture ~12–19% (factory-finished items may be lower). Inspect coatings while in storage.

  • If wrapping remains, vent it to prevent condensation build-up.

Avoid:

  • Do not store flat—standing water on horizontal faces can swell timber and void the warranty.

  • No polythene sheeting tents—they trap humidity like a greenhouse.

  • No damp rooms or fresh plaster; avoid unventilated spaces with high moisture. If plastering later, ventilate/dehumidify.

FAQs:

Have a question about delivery or storage? These are the queries we’re asked most often. If you don’t see what you need, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

Kerbside only. Please arrange enough people or lifting equipment to move items from the drop point to your storage area.

Not in damp or recently plastered rooms. Moist conditions can damage coatings and affect timber. Use a dry, ventilated space.

Note it on the delivery note, photograph it, and contact 01279 456 670 or hello@sashwindowshop.com within 24 hours.

Smaller units usually arrive complete; larger sets may ship with sashes loose for easier lifting and fitting on site.

We normally deliver between Monday and Wednesday. Your exact time slot will be sent to you on the Friday before, once our logistics team has planned the route for the following week.

he plastic or foil packaging on your windows and doors is there for transport protection—it’s not meant for long-term storage. Keeping it for too long can lead to condensation, which may damage the timber. The manual recommends venting or removing the wrapping as soon as the products arrive. Storing them with plastic covers can void the warranty if dampness, dirt, or damage develops during storage.
